Background note: History and development: Devices called air engines have been recorded from as early as 1699 around the time when the laws of gasses were first set out. The English inventor Sir George Caley is known to have devised air engines c. 1807. Robert Stirling's innovative contribution of 1816 was what he called the 'Economiser' now known as the regenerator which acts to retain heat in the hot portion of the engine as the air passes to the cold part and thus improve the efficiency. This vid: I flame tested the bottom and had little or no temp. transfer above first layer of bonded Kevlar and no heat at top of displacer over a 5 minute contact test. The ambient test of heat was 4 hours at 400f or so no noticable change in displacer size or structure. The weight of this type displacer should allow for far higher RPM's as it's reciprocating weight will have minimal drag of system. Con rod planning has entered final stage to prototype testing and 608 zz bearings are to be used in upper support for extreme durabilty and support even on this "small" stirling I expect only the best performance and will try and break it during tests, a good design should not be fragile as conditions are constantly changing and flexibilty is beneficial to all machines.
